The world’s attention is turning towards India – and so is Rolls-Royce. The British engineering giant, known for powering the skies and seas with its advanced engines, has set its sights on making Bharat one of its core markets. This is marking a significant milestone in Bharat’s journey towards technological and industrial self-reliance.
Rolls-Royce recently announced plans to double its supply-chain sourcing from India within the next five years. The company already procures high-precision parts for aerospace engines, naval propulsion systems, diesel engines, and gas turbines from Bharatiya suppliers.
Leading Bharat manufacturing partners such as HAL, Force Motors, Tata, Bharat Forge, and Godrej & Boyce are expected to play a key role in this expansion. By increasing local sourcing, Rolls-Royce is not only boosting Bharat’s export capabilities but also positioning the nation as a critical node in its global production network.

The Company is actively working with Bharatiya suppliers to produce complex engine components domestically, that’s a move that goes far beyond basic assembly or low-value parts. This shall reflect a broader commitment to tachnology transfer, which ensures that Bharat’s growing defence can meet international quality and performance standards. This initiative shall also strengthens the Bharat-UK Defence Industrial Roadmap, paving the way for co-development of advanced combat engines and other high technology solutions.
In addition to partnerships, Rolls-Royce is expanding its physical presence in Bharat. Plans are going on to establish a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Tamil Nadu, a state emerging as a global aerospace and industrial hub. The company also continues to scale its International Aerospace Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. (IAMPL) joint venture in Hosur, Tamil Nadu – enhancing local capabilities in precision component manufacturing.
With its CEO Tufan Erginbilgic leading a global transformation, Rolls-Royce’s renewed focus on Bharat’s signal confidence in the country’s talent, infrastructure, and innovation potential. From sourcing to co-development, Rolls-Royce’s deepening roots in Bharat marks more than just business expansion. They represent a shared journey towards a self-reliant and future-ready nation.
But here’s the bigger question – is this partnership just the beginning of Bharat’s rise as the world’s next manufacturing and innovation powerhouse?
