My marketing journey began long before I even knew what “marketing” was.
As a teenager, I was just another customer of Avon – their lipbalm was practically my saviour. One day I got curious and spoke with a senior Avon agent, and she helped me through out the entire process. And then suddenly, I wasn’t just a customer anymore but I was a sales agent.
Every month, new brochures and fresh products arrived at my doorstep. Hitting sales targets felt like cracking different levels in a game. But I knew it comes with rewards, so I use give me best. That was my first taste of marketing, even before I knew the word branding.

Years later, when I shifted to Kolkata for my MBA studies, I stayed in a rented place, and my landlady happened to own Som Ladies Beauty Parlor. She offered me to work for her parlor as a freelancer. I took on the editing of makeup shoots, fantasy looks, and hair treatment visuals, and during Durga Puja, I even handled the finance desk a couple of times. Although that’s a different aspect of business but I enjoyed my work.
From being an Avon sales agent who didn’t realize she was doing marketing, to now pursuing an MBA in Marketing, Branding and Strategies.
Sometimes, the best careers may start with something as simple as a lip balm.
Currently I am dealing with all obstacles, and it has lot to do with my schooling day, for more –
